Every year on 18th October, World Menopause Day raises awareness of the menopause and the support options available for improving health and wellbeing. It is an opportunity to engage communities, share resources, and encourage open conversations that help women – and society as a whole – better understand this natural stage of life.
The theme for World Menopause Day 2025 is Lifestyle Medicine, focusing on the impact of everyday choices around nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management in managing perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms.
This year’s theme: Lifestyle Medicine
Menopause is a natural transition, yet it can bring a wide range of physical, emotional, and psychological changes that affect quality of life. Hot flushes, sleep disturbances, anxiety, and low mood are just a few of the symptoms that many women experience, often during the height of their careers or while juggling multiple responsibilities.
Lifestyle medicine offers simple yet powerful tools to help manage these changes. By prioritising balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, and effective stress management, many women can experience a positive impact on their overall wellbeing. Importantly, this approach highlights the role of prevention and self-care, alongside clinical support, in navigating menopause with confidence.
How Accelerate Procurement supports World Menopause Day
At Accelerate Procurement, World Menopause Day is more than just a date in the calendar. As a majority female-owned business, it is an issue we feel particularly passionate about supporting.
We believe menopause should be given the same importance as parenting and other Diversity and Inclusion topics. Too often, women face menopause without adequate workplace support, despite being at the peak of their careers. Addressing this gap is critical to keeping talented women in the workforce.
Our menopause support strategy
- Workplace Support Group– We also run a small internal group that takes a “bookclub approach”, bringing colleagues together to focus on menopause policies, share experiences, and discuss ways to improve support in the workplace.
- Women in Business- More broadly, Accelerate champions women across procurement and leadership roles. We actively support mentoring programmes, such as the 30% Club, and are members of WeConnect International, connecting corporations with women-owned businesses.
Why menopause awareness matters in the workplace
Menopause can affect half the population, yet it remains a subject that is often misunderstood or overlooked. Symptoms can directly affect work performance and wellbeing, making it vital for employers to respond with empathy and practical support. Doing so not only enhances morale and productivity but also fosters an inclusive workplace culture.
Let’s break the silence
World Menopause Day is a chance to open conversations, raise awareness, and take meaningful action. By supporting employees, creating inclusive workplaces, and recognising the importance of lifestyle choices in managing symptoms, we can ensure women feel seen, heard, and supported, both at work and in society. At Accelerate, we are proud to stand alongside our networks to champion this cause. Together, we can improve the menopause experience for all.
